About Darbar

Be Part Of Our Story

Darbar has been working at the cutting edge of Indian classical arts for over 10 years. However, we are a small charity reliant on donations from the Arts Council England, charitable trusts and foundations, corporations and individuals.

We are always seeking to partner with organisations that share our mission and vision.

Working with us to help secure our future

Without the help of our supporter we wouldn't be able to curate our Festivals or make ambitious plans for the future. We are continually seeking funding to support our activities and work closely with charitable trusts and foundations that believe in the work that we do.  In order to grow and to build on our success, we are seeking funding in a range of areas.

1. Support us to continue to produce the finest live events

  • Our annual flagship Darbar Festival at London's most iconic venues where audiences can immerse themselves in concerts, performances, talks, demonstration workshops, music appreciation courses and yoga classes set to live music
  • Development of new Darbar fringe festival with New Arts Exchange in Nottingham bringing together classial and contemporary artists in an artist incubation space
  • Development of the ‘Platinum Series’ of Indian classical maestros held in stunning locations in the UK to raise the profile of Indian classical music

2. Work with us on our innovative learning programme of events and activities for audiences, musicians, schools, families and community partners

  • Our residential musical retreat or shibir, which provides tuition by Indian classical maestros to spearhead the talent of semi-professional UK based musicians
  • An Indian classical music appreciation course to build a greater understanding of the genre amongst new audiences which we'd like to make online to reach more people
  • Expansion of our existing Indian music classes for primary schools in Leicestershire to new areas

3.    Using the latest digital innovation to reach new and more diverse audiences

  • Producing short marketing video and audio clips and films of emerging Indian classical artists in India, many of whom have never performed outside of India, for use on our website and social media platforms
  • Increasing access to more diverse audiences through Darbar's YouTube channel
